Nationwide announced that around 4.4 million eligible members will receive the £100 payment between 10 and 30 June 2026, taking the total amount returned to members through the scheme since 2023 to more than £1.5 billion.
The Fairer Share payment is part of Nationwide's mutual model, which allows the building society to share profits directly with members rather than external shareholders. According to Nationwide, it returned £1.8 billion of value to members during the last financial year through payments, savings rates and incentives.
To qualify for the 2026 payment, members must have held a qualifying Nationwide current account on 31 March 2026 and also have either qualifying savings or a qualifying mortgage with the building society. Eligible members will automatically receive the £100 payment into their Nationwide current account.
The society says more than four million members benefited from the scheme in previous years, making it one of the largest customer reward programmes in UK banking.
Nationwide Chief Executive Debbie Crosbie said the payment demonstrates the benefits of the mutual model, where profits can be shared with members while continuing to invest in products, services and branch networks.
The announcement comes as many households continue to face pressure from rising living costs, with social media users welcoming the extra £100 payment to help with bills, fuel, holidays and everyday expenses. Community discussions online have highlighted the payment as a valuable reward for loyal members.
Members unsure whether they qualify can check their eligibility through Nationwide's online banking service, mobile app or by contacting the building society directly. Nationwide has said payments will be made automatically and no application is required.
