The popular community event saw Shopmobility customers, volunteers and staff travel together through the city, using mobility scooters and powerchairs to enjoy one of Salisbury’s best-loved cultural attractions. The visit highlighted not only the importance of accessibility across the city, but also the growing community spirit surrounding Salisbury Shopmobility’s activities.

Salisbury Shopmobility, based in the city centre, helps people with mobility challenges maintain independence by providing scooter, wheelchair and powerchair hire for residents and visitors alike. The service is open to anyone with mobility difficulties, including those recovering from illness or injury.

The “Scooter Scoot” events have become increasingly popular in recent years, giving participants the opportunity to safely explore Salisbury while socialising and learning more about the city’s rich history. Previous themed outings have included guided tours of hidden parts of Salisbury, historic streets and Cathedral Close.

This latest outing to The Salisbury Museum offered visitors the chance to discover fascinating local history inside one of Wiltshire’s most important museums. Located within the historic King’s House in Cathedral Close, the museum is home to collections spanning archaeology, art and Salisbury’s medieval heritage.

Community initiatives like Scooter Scoot continue to demonstrate how accessibility and inclusion can help more people enjoy everything Salisbury has to offer. For many participants, the events are about far more than transport they provide friendship, confidence and a greater connection to the city.

Salisbury City Council said the outings continue to bring together customers, volunteers and staff in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

Salisbury Shopmobility regularly organises Scooter Scoots during the warmer months, with future excursions expected throughout the year. Residents interested in joining future events or learning more about mobility services in the city can contact Salisbury Shopmobility directly through Salisbury City Council.
