Residents, councillors, community groups, and local organisations came together on Tuesday evening for the 2026 Annual Town Meeting held at the Bowman Centre in Amesbury.

Doors opened at 7:00pm, with more than 14 local community groups attending to speak with residents, share information, and discuss ongoing projects within the town.

The evening began with a welcome from the Mayor, who thanked everyone for attending and highlighted the importance of community involvement in local decision-making.

A grant presentation followed before residents heard updates from Police & Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson and Chief Constable Catherine Roper regarding the proposed Southern Policing Hub at Old Sarum. The discussion focused on future policing plans for the area and improving local services for residents across South Wiltshire.

During a break with light refreshments, residents had the chance to meet councillors and speak directly with representatives from local organisations and charities.

Further presentations were delivered by the Stonehenge Chamber, with Chris Little discussing support for local businesses and economic growth in the area, while Margaret Aymes from the Lady Antrobus Trust shared updates on community initiatives and heritage projects.

The evening concluded with an open question session, giving residents the opportunity to ask questions directly to their council and raise issues affecting the local area.

The Annual Town Meeting once again provided an important opportunity for the Amesbury community to come together, hear local updates, and engage with organisations helping to shape the future of the town.
