Fly-Tipper’s Vehicle Seized and Set for Public Display Before Being Crushed

A vehicle used in a fly-tipping offence has been seized by Wiltshire Council and will be put on public display before being crushed as part of a campaign to deter environmental crime across the county.

Fly-Tipper’s Vehicle Seized and Set for Public Display Before Being Crushed

The vehicle was confiscated following enforcement action by Wiltshire Council’s Environmental Enforcement Team. Before it is destroyed, the vehicle will be displayed outside County Hall in Trowbridge on 25 June, allowing residents to see the consequences faced by those caught illegally dumping waste.

Council leaders say the move sends a strong message that fly-tipping will not be tolerated and that offenders risk losing their vehicles as well as facing substantial fines and legal action.

The seizure follows a series of successful enforcement actions carried out by Wiltshire Council against fly-tippers. The authority has increased efforts to tackle environmental crime, using CCTV, intelligence gathering and public reports to identify offenders.

Wiltshire Council has warned that anyone involved in illegal waste disposal could face prosecution, fixed penalty notices and the confiscation of vehicles used in the offences.

The council says fly-tipping damages the environment, blights local communities and costs taxpayers significant amounts of money to clear up each year. Residents are being encouraged to report incidents and ensure that anyone removing waste on their behalf is properly licensed.

The seized vehicle will ultimately be crushed after the public display, marking what the council describes as a clear warning to would-be offenders across Wiltshire.

Residents can report fly-tipping incidents through Wiltshire Council’s website or by contacting the council directly.
