A long-awaited new church project in Amesbury has finally moved into the construction phase, bringing an end to more than eight years of planning and preparation.
Living Grace Ministry, which has been meeting at Bulford Village Hall, has now begun work on its own permanent home on land off Archers Way, next to the Bowman Centre.
Site work officially started earlier this month, with the first stage of construction now visible on the ground. Church members and those involved in the project gathered to mark the milestone after years of fundraising, design work and applications.
The new development will include a modern church building alongside a nursery and flexible community space, designed to support both worship and local activities.
Church leaders say the aim has always been to create more than just a place of worship, but a community hub that can be used throughout the week.
Pastor Natalee Stoner said seeing work finally begin was a major moment for the congregation after such a long wait, describing the project as something that has grown steadily over many years.
The build is being delivered by Marshway Contracts, who estimate the construction will take around 12 months, depending on progress and conditions on site.
Once complete, the new facility will give Living Grace Ministry a permanent base in Amesbury for services, events, and community outreach.
The project is still ongoing in terms of funding, with supporters continuing efforts to ensure the final stages of the build are fully delivered.
When finished, the church is expected to become a new focal point for both the congregation and the wider community.
