Art in The Square Returns to Salisbury on 1 November
Art in The Square returns to Salisbury Market Square on 1 November 2026 with local artists, Christmas gifts, creative workshops, live music and free entry.
Salisbury's Market Square will be filled with art, music and creativity on Sunday 1 November as Art in The Square returns for another monthly event, bringing together local artists, makers and visitors in the heart of the city.
Organised by Salisbury Arts Scene, the outdoor art market offers visitors the opportunity to discover and buy original artwork directly from professional artists, while enjoying live entertainment and taking part in creative activities.
Running from 10am to 4pm, the November event will feature a wide range of artistic styles, including paintings, photography, printmaking, jewellery and traditional crafts. With Christmas approaching, organisers say the market is also an opportunity to find unique gifts made by local artists.
Artists and makers will transform the Market Square into an open-air gallery, showcasing work created using acrylics, watercolours, oils and mixed media. Visitors can also explore block printing, handmade and hand-painted jewellery, spinning and other creative crafts.
Sally Edwards, coordinator of Salisbury Arts Scene, said the November event would be an ideal opportunity to start Christmas shopping with something original.
She added that two new workshops would give visitors the chance to try different artistic techniques and discover new ways to get creative.
Two New Creative Workshops
Alongside browsing the artwork, visitors will be able to take part in a series of short creative workshops suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
Artist Emily Richards will introduce visitors to simple printmaking, demonstrating the basics of creating prints using a gel plate. The workshop will offer an opportunity for participants to experiment with the technique and produce their own creative work.
Spinner Liz Tanner will lead Little Weaving Workshops, inviting participants to explore the relaxing process of weaving through an activity described as a chance to free the mind with a movement of peaceful weaving.
The workshops will run alongside the regular watercolour sessions led by resident artist Richard Greathead.
Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes and costs £5 per person, with all necessary materials included. Sessions will be available between 10am and 3pm, and there is no need to book in advance.
Organisers welcome beginners as well as those with previous artistic experience, making the activities accessible to anyone interested in trying something new.
Live Music Throughout the Day
Live music will provide the soundtrack to the outdoor market, with three performances scheduled throughout the day.
Saxophonist Tony Rogers will open the musical programme from 10am until midday, followed by folk duo Nobody's Business from noon until 2pm.
Guitar duo Guitarras Neuvo will then perform from 2pm until 4pm, bringing the day's entertainment to a close.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy refreshments from Konjo Coffee while exploring the stalls, meeting the artists and discovering the stories behind their work.
Supporting Salisbury's Creative Community
Art in The Square takes place on the first Sunday of each month from March to December, providing a regular platform for professional artists and makers to showcase their work and connect directly with the public.
The event brings creativity into Salisbury's city centre, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to support local talent while enjoying a free day out.
With original artwork, hands-on workshops, live music and refreshments, the November market promises a varied programme for anyone interested in art, crafts and local culture.
Art in The Square will take place on Sunday 1 November 2026, from 10am to 4pm, in Salisbury Market Square. Entry is free, although workshop participation costs £5 per person.
