Fitness YouTuber Connor Murphy reportedly dies in Thailand

Fitness YouTuber and social media personality Connor Murphy has reportedly died in Thailand after an incident at a residential estate in Samut Prakan province.

According to local reports, emergency services were called to the Bang Phli district on 7 July after a foreign man was seen in a lake. Rescue divers recovered Murphy's body from the water approximately 20 metres from the shore.

Thai authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Initial reports state there were no obvious signs of foul play, and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Murphy had been behaving erratically before entering the lake. Local media claimed he was seen shouting, approaching vehicles, making prayer-like gestures and attempting to hand money to a driver.

Police reportedly said Murphy entered the lake and continued swimming until he became exhausted before disappearing beneath the water. Divers located his body around 30 minutes later at a depth of more than 10 metres.

Murphy's girlfriend, who had recently reunited with him in Thailand, told investigators she had never previously witnessed him taking drugs and could not explain his unusual behaviour.

Investigators also reported finding two unused syringes and unidentified pills inside Murphy's vehicle. Authorities stressed that these discoveries do not establish the cause of death, and toxicology tests will form part of the ongoing investigation.

As of publication, Murphy's family and representatives have not released an official statement. The US Embassy has been informed of the incident while Thai police continue their enquiries.
