Teenager found not guilty of murder
A teenager has today (20/08) been found not guilty of murdering 16-year-old Shayne Hambakachere.
Sitting at Bristol Crown Court, under Judge Peter Blair KC, the jury returned a majority verdict having failed to reach a unanimous decision.
The accused, a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, was in court to hear the jury foreman return a verdict of not guilty to murder and not guilty to the alternative lesser charge of manslaughter.
Shayne sustained a fatal knife wound in London Road, Chippenham, on January 31.
He died in hospital the following day despite the best efforts of those first on scene, as well as police and paramedics.
