Amesbury Household Recycling Centre closed due to mechanical failure

The Amesbury Household Recycling Centre (HRC) is closed today following a mechanical failure, Wiltshire Council has confirmed.

The council announced the closure on Sunday, apologising to residents for the inconvenience caused.

Residents who were planning to visit the Amesbury site are being advised to use another Household Recycling Centre in Wiltshire while the issue is being dealt with.

Wiltshire Council said that all other HRC sites across Wiltshire remain open.

The temporary closure is due to a mechanical problem at the Amesbury facility, although the council has not provided further details about the nature of the failure or when the site is expected to reopen.

Residents are advised to check the latest information before travelling to a recycling centre, particularly if they are making a longer journey to an alternative site.

The council's Household Recycling Centre information includes details of locations and opening times for sites across Wiltshire.

The closure comes as Wiltshire continues to make changes to its network of household recycling centres, with the council planning changes to the number and ownership of facilities across the county.

For residents in Amesbury and the surrounding area, the temporary closure means checking alternative locations before setting off to dispose of household waste and recyclable materials.

Wiltshire Council has apologised for the disruption and said residents should use the other available HRC sites while the Amesbury facility is closed.
