A Wiltshire fundraiser is preparing to cycle to more than 75 churches as part of this year's Wiltshire Ride and Stride event, raising money to help protect the county's historic churches.

Mark Nash is taking part in Wiltshire Ride and Stride 2026 on Saturday 12 September, raising funds for the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust.

Mark's challenge will see him travel by bicycle between churches across Wiltshire, with a target of visiting more than 75 churches in a single day.

The fundraiser is supporting the work of the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust, which helps preserve the county's historic places of worship. The trust provides grants to churches for important repairs, maintenance and preservation work.

Wiltshire is home to 297 churches, many of which contain important historic features and heritage that have been preserved for generations.

Mark said he was taking part to support what he described as the "wonderful Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust" and help sustain the county's church heritage for future generations.

An example of the trust's work can be seen at St Leonard's Church in Bulford, where the 1666 Coat of Arms has recently been conserved with support from the organisation.

There is also a direct local connection to Mark's fundraising, with half of the money raised through his page going towards St Leonard's Church, Bulford. The other half will support the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust's grant programme for churches across the county.

The fundraiser has already attracted support, with donations currently totalling £150, plus £37.50 in Gift Aid.

Supporters have praised Mark's ambitious target, with messages encouraging him to keep the wheels turning as he prepares for the challenge.

The Wiltshire Ride and Stride event gives cyclists and walkers the opportunity to explore the county while raising money to help protect its religious and architectural heritage.

Anyone wishing to support Mark's challenge can make a donation through his JustGiving fundraising page.
