Domestic abuser who assaulted partner jailed
A domestic abuser who assaulted his partner has been jailed as we continue our focus on reducing and preventing violence against women and girls.
Billy Conners, 26, formerly of Castle Road, Salisbury, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court yesterday (27/07) after pleading guilty to two counts of assault.
He was jailed for 19 months.
In April, we received a call from the victim, a woman in her 30s from Melksham, reporting that she had been assaulted by Conners on multiple occasions, with whom she had been in a relationship with for only two months.
On 30th March, Conners assaulted the victim by biting her and spitting on her, as well as repeatedly calling her derogatory names. Two days later, Conners accused the victim of messaging other people and pushed her to the floor.
On April 2nd, Conners assaulted the victim again, kicking her to the head after pushing her to the floor, punched her in the ribs and face and again spat in her face. When the victim tried to leave the address, Conners blocked her from leaving.
The victim fortunately didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
Conners was arrested, charged, and remanded into custody.
T/DC Hannah Ferris, based in Central CID, said: “Conners’ behaviour was absolutely abhorrent, and I want to commend the victim for having the strength to report his abuse to the police.
“Her courage in coming forward and detailing the awful assaults that Conners committed against her has meant that a domestic abuser has been put behind bars.
“Cases such as this demonstrate the importance of our commitment to reducing and preventing violence against women and girls, one of the Force’s three key priorities.
