Police discover cannabis farm with around 150 plants inside Swindon home
Police have discovered a cannabis farm containing around 150 plants inside a house in Kingshill Road, Swindon. Officers are investigating and seeking a closure order for the property.
A large cannabis farm containing around 150 cannabis plants has been uncovered inside a property in Kingshill Road, Swindon, following a report from an electricity company.
Wiltshire Police were called to the address on Thursday afternoon, where officers discovered the substantial cannabis cultivation. No one was found inside the property, and investigations are now underway to identify those responsible.
The property has been cordoned off while forensic examinations continue. Officers confirmed they intend to apply for a three-month closure order, preventing unauthorised access to the house while the investigation remains ongoing.
Police said all electrical, gas and structural hazards linked to the cannabis grow have now been assessed and made safe. Illegal cannabis farms often bypass electricity meters, creating serious fire risks and danger to neighbouring properties.
Firefighters also attended the scene to assist police before leaving later that afternoon.
Residents reported seeing police tape surrounding the property, forensic equipment outside the house and officers remaining at the scene throughout Friday as enquiries continued.
Wiltshire Police are asking anyone with information about the property or suspicious activity in the area to come forward as investigations continue.
