UK set for fourth heatwave of 2026 as temperatures could rise again

The UK is preparing for its fourth heatwave of 2026, with temperatures expected to climb again next week after a brief period of cooler weather.

Forecasters say high pressure will return, bringing another spell of hot and dry conditions across parts of the country. Southern England is expected to be among the areas most affected, with temperatures potentially reaching 32C to 33C in some locations.

The continued dry conditions are also increasing concerns about wildfire risks, with emergency services urging people to be cautious in parks, countryside areas and places with dry vegetation.

Although the heatwave is expected to be shorter than some previous hot spells this summer, forecasters say the repeated periods of extreme heat highlight the changing UK climate and the growing challenge of managing hotter summers.
