A magical family memory watching the partial solar eclipse on Salisbury Plain

I went to Salisbury Plain to watch the partial solar eclipse, and it became one of those moments that will stay with my family forever.

Standing in the open countryside as the Moon slowly moved across the Sun was an incredible experience. The light changed in a way that is hard to describe, and everything around us seemed to become quieter and more mysterious for a few minutes.

What made the day even more special was sharing it with my five-year-old child. Seeing the excitement and amazement on a young face while looking safely at the eclipse made it feel like a true once-in-a-lifetime memory.

For children, moments like this are more than just watching something in the sky they are the kind of experiences that spark curiosity about nature, space and the world around us. My little one kept asking questions about the Sun, the Moon and why the daylight looked different, which made the whole day even more meaningful.

Salisbury Plain was the perfect place to watch the eclipse, with its wide open views and peaceful surroundings. It reminded me how lucky we are to have such beautiful landscapes in Wiltshire where families can enjoy special moments together away from the noise of everyday life.

The photographs will be wonderful to keep, but the real treasure is the memory of standing together under the changing sky and sharing that sense of wonder.
