Who is Count Binface?

Count Binface is a satirical political character created by British comedian Jonathan Harvey. Dressed in a silver bin shaped helmet and cape, the fictional "intergalactic space warrior" from the planet Sigma IX has become well known for standing in UK elections against high-profile politicians while mixing humorous campaign promises with serious messages encouraging people to vote.

Since first appearing in 2018, Count Binface has stood against figures including former Prime Ministers Boris Johnsonand Rishi Sunak, as well as in the London mayoral elections. His campaigns often include light-hearted pledges such as banning loud snacks in cinemas and tying politicians' pay to nurses' salaries, while promoting greater public participation in democracy.

With Labour, the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Greens all choosing not to contest the seat, the Clacton by election could become a straight contest between Farage and Count Binface, attracting significant national attention despite its unconventional nature.
