Amesbury pensioner has lucky escape after mobile home fire

An Amesbury pensioner has spoken of his lucky escape after a fire destroyed his mobile home while he was asleep.

Alfie Cane, 68, said a working smoke alarm alerted him to the blaze, giving him enough time to escape before the fire spread through the property. He had been sleeping after finishing an overnight shift when the alarm sounded.

Despite escaping without injury, the fire completely destroyed the mobile home and left Alfie without a place to live. He described the incident as a devastating experience but said he was grateful to have survived.
