Wave of Light Event at Salisbury Cathedral to Remember Babies Lost
Salisbury Cathedral will host a Wave of Light event on 15 October as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week, bringing families and loved ones together to remember the babies they have lost.
A special evening of remembrance will take place outside Salisbury Cathedral next week, offering families and loved ones a chance to come together and remember babies who have died.
The Wave of Light event, held as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week, will take place on Thursday 15 October, from 6.30pm to 7.10pm, at the cathedral's West Front, beside the Angels in Harmony sculpture.
Organised by the Stars Appeal-funded Benson Suite at Salisbury District Hospital, the gathering will include lanterns, poetry and a minute's silence, giving those attending a quiet moment to remember and reflect.
Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time to recognise the grief experienced by families affected by pregnancy and baby loss, while also helping people feel less alone in their experiences.
The Wave of Light event will offer a space for remembrance, whether people are attending in memory of their own baby or to support someone close to them.
If it rains, the gathering will move into the cathedral's Cloisters.
Those planning to attend are asked not to park in spaces marked with an 'R', as these are reserved for residents.
Anyone with questions about the event can contact the Bereavement Midwives at Salisbury District Hospital by emailing sft.bensonsuite@nhs.net or calling 01722 336262, extension 5273.
