Do you know any adults who would love the chance to learn to read?

In England, there are more than 2.4 million adults who either cannot read at all or who find basic reading extremely hard. Often, they do not tell anyone. There are many reasons why some people find it difficult to learn to read as children, but the good news is that it is never too late to learn.

If you know an adult who would like our help, in your family, community or workplace, please contact Jocelyn on 07942 382318 or by email at sewsupporter@readeasy.org.uk.

We know there are potentially hundreds of adults in every town and city whose lives could change enormously by learning such a vital skill.

Read Easy South & East Wiltshire is a group affiliated with Read Easy UK. Based in Salisbury and helping adults within roughly a 15-mile radius of the city, the group was formed in 2022.

There are nearly ninety Read Easy groups in England, uniquely offering free, confidential 1:1 Reading Coaching to any adult who bravely comes forward.

We have just paired our 29th Reader with one of our kind, patient Reading Coaches, all of whom are DBS-checked, trained and carefully recruited for their friendly, non-judgemental personalities.

Please help us help others in our wonderful local communities.

Alongside our search for new Readers, we are also seeking some volunteers who would like to be trained as new Reading Coaches, particularly in the Amesbury, Tidworth and Salisbury areas.

If you have retired or semi-retired, have spare hours to volunteer and miss being part of a team, could one of the following Management Team vacancies be what you are looking for, a few hours a week?

The urgent vacant roles we have at present are:

• Administrator/Secretary

• Publicity Officer

For more information about any of these roles, or if you are passionate about reading and have different skills we may need, such as expertise in phonics or literacy education, please contact Ann by email at sewrecruiter@readeasy.org.uk.
