Milk recall issued after Graham’s Family Dairy product found with veterinary medicines

Shoppers across the UK have been warned not to drink certain batches of Graham’s Family Dairy semi-skimmed milk after the product was recalled due to the possible presence of veterinary medicines, including antibiotics such as penicillin.

The recall affects Graham’s Family Dairy Semi-Skimmed Milk sold in one pint, one litre and two litre bottles with a use-by date of 31 July 2026. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said the affected products may pose a health risk, particularly for people with allergies to antibiotics.

Customers who have purchased the affected milk are being advised not to consume it and should return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.

Graham’s Family Dairy said the recall was a precautionary measure after trace levels of antibiotics were identified. The company apologised to customers and confirmed that no other Graham’s products or different use-by dates were affected.

The affected milk was available through major supermarkets including Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Stores have been displaying notices to inform customers about the recall and explain the steps they should take.

Food safety recalls are issued when there is a possibility that products could cause harm to consumers. While most people may not experience problems, antibiotics such as penicillin can trigger serious reactions in people with allergies.

Consumers who believe they may have experienced a reaction after drinking the affected milk should seek medical advice.
