UK web hosting provider Fasthosts has launched a new AI-powered virtual receptionist designed to help businesses handle customer calls around the clock without the need for additional staff.
The new AI Receptionist service uses artificial intelligence to answer incoming calls, respond to customer enquiries, take messages, book appointments and route calls to the appropriate person. The system is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses looking to reduce missed calls and improve customer service.
According to Fasthosts, the AI can hold natural conversations with callers, support more than 30 languages and even scan a company's website to answer questions about its products and services. Business owners can also customise the receptionist's name, voice and greeting to match their brand.
The platform can be configured in less than 15 minutes and works with existing business phone numbers through call forwarding. After each conversation, users receive a written summary by email, making it easier to follow up with customers and potential leads. Appointment scheduling is also available through integrations with online booking tools such as Calendly.
Fasthosts says the service is fully GDPR-compliant and does not permanently record phone calls. Instead, audio is processed during the conversation before being deleted, while only call summaries and customer details are retained where required. The company also offers a one-month free trial, with paid plans starting from £39 per month.
