Manchester United begin pre-season with victory over Rosenborg

Manchester United kicked off their 2026 pre-season campaign with a positive result against Norwegian side Rosenborg as Ruben Amorim's squad continued preparations for the new Premier League season.

The friendly gave supporters their first opportunity to see several first-team players back in action following the summer break, with a mix of experienced stars and academy prospects featuring throughout the match.

United controlled much of the possession and created several chances, using the fixture to build match fitness rather than focus solely on the final score. Rosenborg also produced moments of quality, testing United's defence on the counter-attack during an entertaining contest.

Manager Ruben Amorim rotated his squad throughout the game, allowing different players valuable minutes as the club begins its pre-season schedule ahead of a busy 2026/27 campaign.

Several youngsters impressed after coming off the bench, continuing the club's tradition of giving academy players opportunities during summer friendlies. New signings also had the chance to begin settling into Amorim's tactical system.
