Lollipop Person wanted for vital role at Manor Fields Primary School
A School Crossing Patrol Officer - often known as a “Lollipop Person” - is being sought to help pupils and families safely cross Highbury Avenue outside Manor Fields Primary School.
The position became vacant after the previous postholder was forced to step down due to illness. Following efforts to have funding for the role restored, Wiltshire Council has now re-advertised the position.
The role is expected to involve approximately 30 minutes at the start and end of each school day, helping children and their families cross safely during the busiest periods.
Full training is provided and the position offers a competitive salary, making it an opportunity for someone who would like to play an important role in supporting children and the wider local community.
The campaign to restore funding for the post began around 18 months ago, following concerns about the importance of having a dedicated crossing patrol outside the school.
Those involved in supporting the role are now hoping that a new applicant will come forward to take on the position.
A spokesperson said the post was a “vital” one for pupil safety and described it as a “tremendous opportunity” for someone wanting to make a positive contribution to the local community.
