Harrogate Town fan favourite George Thomson has signed a new one-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The new deal means Thomson will embark on his tenth season with the Sulphurites, extending a remarkable association with the club that began in 2017. During his time at Wetherby Road, the midfielder has made more than 335 appearances and scored over 50 goals, establishing himself as one of Harrogate Town's most influential players.

The 34-year-old has played a key role in some of the club's most memorable achievements, including promotions to the National League in 2018 and the English Football League in 2020. He was also part of the side that lifted the FA Trophy in 2021.

Speaking after signing his new deal, Thomson said he was pleased to have his future resolved ahead of pre-season and admitted the club holds a special place in his heart after nearly a decade of service.

Last season, Thomson made 15 appearances after returning from a lengthy 18-month injury lay-off. The experienced midfielder has spoken of his determination to enjoy a full pre-season and make a significant impact during the upcoming campaign.

Harrogate Town's Head of Recruitment, Lloyd Kerry, praised Thomson's professionalism and leadership, describing him as a club legend whose experience will be invaluable both on and off the pitch as Town aim to bounce back next season.
